The Big Day – Singapore Biathlon

Posted on

The day before Singapore Biathlon – I fall sick… OMG.. I had a flu and body aching and the feelings is sucks. I feel like crying at the moment cause i scared i am not able to join the event the next day.

Decided to take half day to visit the doctor. The doctor say i had caught a cold and lots of rest is needed. His advise – Not to join for the event the next day.

Straight after i reach home, popped in the medicine and immediately fall asleep when i lay on my bed. I don’t know if i were tired or the medicine is taking effect. When L*** called to check if i am ok, i am still feeling very giddy and the body seem to feel to light. That moment, i felt so helpless and in agony – “mental suffering.” Took cal – element and cal ions to see if helps. So i told L*** that i am feeling so weak. But i think i will need more rest.

Anddecided that i should not take the doc’s medicine anymore. As the medicine will make me so drowsy. Had an early sleep that night and pray for the better for tomorrow.

The actual day – Singapore Biathlon

I reached east coast park – carpark F2 about 7.30am. I had to collect my race pack and had to get the body marking done. I was there alone as L*** and the rest will be there slighty later. I prepared for my warm-up and once i stepped into the warm up area. I can feel the sea-bug biting me. “Ouch” feel like ant’s bite.

Then at 8.15am, i proceed to the swim start. Then i saw our Spassion supporters arriving.

When i saw them, it saw a kind of comfort. Just feel good to have friends around you. Thanks L*** & YM for waking up so early and making the way down to support us.

Look at the faces of non-competitors – so happy and stress free. But they have a tough job as they need to cheer their friends and give them morale support.

Happen to see L*** ‘s EC friend at the swim start. Both of us joined the SIN Bia for the first time.

Look at the number of people joining this year. This is only the first wave. As reported, the no of participants had been increased by 25%. I decided to stand at the back cause i do not wish to “bang” into any situation. Hahaha. Decided for a swim at a relax pace.

This the point when i am out from the transition area and headed for the 10Km run. This moment, i think, is about 2km point and thought to myself “oh gosh” 8km more. Better take it easy. One thing that i should be grateful is, the weather is cooling that day and i do not have any discomfort running the 10km.

The finishing line is always so motivated for me to open up my pace and go thru it. The feeling is really great when i crossed the finishing line. I may not be the first but i completed my first OD Biathlon.

We are being complained.. being the first one to leave the event. Hahaha.. We are just tired and need to rush home for more rest. Then i realised, i did not take any photo with L***.

"Preparing for My Big Day"

W***** & i had the intention to swim and run on wednesday evening. The weather is “too good” to us. It came pouring and totally spoilt the moods to run.

I had not been doing any long run recently and do not have the confident to complete the 10km run in Singapore Biathlon. As for the swim..all i can say ” leave it to fate ba.” Haiz.. All i wish is to complete the event.

Back to my swimming session, when we reach the pool, we are told by the Lifeguard that the pool is temporary closed due to heavy rain. OMG… I say, despite is a sheltered pool but still closed. Why?? Then he say, there are compliance to meet.

I told W***** “Never mind, we will just go in and wait. Surprisingly, the gate is opened so we
went in without paying. Hahha.. we managed to have free swimming today.

The swim is good and smooth today and managed to swim 30 laps and call it a day. Both of us did not have the appetite to eat. Don’t know why.. Maybe due to the wet weather and just want to get home fast. So we decided to wait for a cab just outside the stadium. As the road is quite isolated so flagging a cab can be quite diffcult.

Finally from a distance, we saw a cab approaching. At this moment, we really got no idea on what earth, this bunch of auntie appeared from nowhere. Standing in front of me. Nevermind, if they have the basic manner to let us have the cab first. But they are just treating me as transparent. I am so pissed off so i said out loudly “好像是我们先来的, 是吗?

Luckily, one of the aunties managed to get me hint and say loudly to her friends and say we are here first and give it to them. I am thinking, hello, is not give it to me but think i should have it first.

W***** is amused by my action.. i think..hahha

People Just LuRv to bang into Me….

I planned for a swim and run on wednesday. When i am on the way to work, i realised that i had forgetten to have my running shoes with me. Sucks…

Plan: Swim 30 laps and run around track for 10 laps. Since i have no running shoes with me, i have to swim more.

But when i reached the pool, it is quite empty…I am happy thinking”Great!!, i can have the whole lane to myself.

What i hate about swimming is the first moment when your body touches the water. Shivering cold.. i would usually quickly start to swim to as to get used to the temperature in the pool.

The first 15 laps are easy and tireless and i am in quite a relaxed mode. As i am trying to swim 40 laps today, so i am not trying to hit any timing but more of the ability to finish the swim. However, this guy, i think is a “China man” who is using breast stroke banged into me. Maybe i am quite used to the “banging”, i don’t care and i continued. But my mood is abit affected as i do not wish to have any disruption in the swim.

So when i reached the to the point of the last two laps, this girl who is also using breast stroke also banged into me.

Thoughts – Breast stroke had a better sighting than free style but why these people keep banging into me??

The “happy thing” about my banging is” i am using free style so normally my hands will stretched out first before my head. So the two person that i had banged to or rather they banged into me had been injured by my fingernails.

My only disruption is i do not have a smooth swim. That all!! Anyway, i do not expect to have a smooth swim in the open itself too. There will be lots of pushing and kicking in the water. So my rule in water better be slow than to be sorry.

After the swim, i met W***** for a drink at the coffeeshop nearby. He still thinking that i be running on the track. When he saw me, he then remember that i do not have the running shoes with me. I told me i intended to rest for thursday and now i had go for a long run instead.

This is the preparation for the Singapore Biathlon on the 17/03.
The big race for me for this year. So excited!! Hahaha

NUS Biathlon 2007

Yesterday is the annual event for NUS Biathlon. This is my first individual race for this year.

Feeling sick when i up from the bed that morning. Butterfilies in the stomach. Body aching here and there. I am wondering why all these thing will bound to happen before any race.

Reached East Coast Park at about 10am. Called L*** immediately. I am in the transition area whereas she is just outside when i called her. We laughed at each other …So near and missed each other. The first thing she do is.. “Come, I will take a photo for you.”

Look at the pathetic box -That is my transit area. I had to prepare all my running gear so as to minimize the transition time after the swim. I realised that i really had become so tanned recently.

L*** is the manager of the NUS Biathlon. Great Job and well done babe. L*** had just returned frm her ironman langkawi 2007. As her leg is still in the recovery state, she is not able to participate in this event. So she is the manager of Spassion for this event. ZY is saying that she had become “Ironmiad” instead of Ironman. She had to rushed to the swim start to the swim end to the transition area and finally to the run finsh. She had to take photo for Spassionates who take part in the Bi-lite to the Sprint event. There are about 9 of us taking part and see this is the hard work of a team manager. Anyway, babe, the event will be bored without you taking photo for us. Thank you!!

This is when i had finished my run. Tiring thou but is not a bad run after all. Tell you people about a funny thing along the way when i ran. I am on the returning part when i saw this big size guy running. When i ran past him, he is like talking to me “C’mom baby, we are left only 1 km, go for it men.” I am like wanted to burst out laughing but i control it. So i said” Alright, let do it together then.” I went off ignoring him.. As usual , a photo for all of us.

Great job ZY, both of us had completed our sprint event of the day. Now we can had a good laugh and relaxed mode now. Look at our number, we are 2 numbers apart.4D

anyone??

Lastly to wrap up for the day. Hereby, Congratulations to LJ who came in second in the NUS Biathlon 07. We are all so proud of you. Well done and we hope to see more you performing in the coming event.

Headed down to the chalet after NUS Biathlon.

It’s Friday

Whoo Hoo…. It’s friday. Sound familiar to those who listen to yes 933 early in the morning. It’s Cruz. Somehow, i am quite addicted to listen to his programme cause his voice somehow will perk me up for the day

Yesterday, carrying myself with a hangover state went for a swim at JW swimming pool. W***** and i decided that we should do a swim and run before the “big day” at east coast this sunday. W***** is very excited about the whole event cause this is his first biathlon.

The swim is shiok cause the water is really cold. Shivering cold. The best part is the pool is almost empty. Think less 2 person in the pool. I am thinking if L*** is with us, she will surely tell me”Great the pool belong to us.” No more of banging…hahha. I am telling W*****” what had we done to deserve this icy cold water.” He is kind of … “hahaha” respond.

Think i took about 19 mins plus for 800m… quite comfortable but on the open sea, you will have the add more timing . As told from my coach..

The run is not that good cause with some burping, there are still taste of liqour in my mouth. We are supposed to run 10 laps but i told W***** that i want to run only 8 laps cause i am kind of lazy for another 2 laps. Hahaha..And he followed suit. As advise from our iron babe. it should be time to tapper down. No point getting yourself injured before the race. Ya, i listened to her.
